Puppet Config Groups

The Puppet config groups page can be accessed via the configure menu:

Configure > Config Groups

The Puppet config groups page forms a part of orcharhino’s Puppet support. It is the default option for configuration management within orcharhino.

Puppet config groups are used to group Puppet classes within orcharhino. They are named lists of Puppet classes and are mostly used in combination with host groups.

Puppet config groups
  • The Create Config Group button (1) allows you to create a Puppet config group.

  • The list (2) of config groups contains the name and number of Puppet classes, hosts, and host groups.

  • The Delete button (3) allows you to delete a Puppet config group.

Creating a Puppet config group

Creating a Puppet config group
  • The Name field (1) allows you to set a name for the new Puppet config group.

  • Available Classes (2) field allows you to select which Puppet classes are bundled together into this Puppet config group.

  • Click the Submit button (3) to save your changes to orcharhino.

Once created, Puppet config groups are available for use with host groups. The creation and usage of Puppet config groups are purely a matter of convenience in case some set of Puppet classes is used repeatedly within orcharhino.

Editing a Puppet config group

Editing a Puppet config groups is essentially the same as creating a Puppet config group, with the difference that fields will be prefilled with the settings of the Puppet config group being edited.

Refer to the Puppet guide for more information on how to use Puppet for configuration management with orcharhino.
