Job Templates

The job templates page can be accessed via the hosts menu:

Hosts > Job templates

The job templates page houses templates that form a part of orcharhino’s remote execution features.

One way to distinguish between orcharhino administrators and regular users is to place the orcharhino server as well as any attached orcharhino proxies into a separate location and/or organization context.

Alternatively, you can achieve a fine grained permissions concept using roles and filters.

Templates allow the generation of particular scripts from general templates. Since remote execution generally involves the execution of scripts (commands) on some remote host, it makes sense to use templates as part of the process.

orcharhino’s remote execution features come with a number of preconfigured templates that can be selected when scheduling a job.

Your orcharhino installation comes with all required templates. We do not recommend to manually create new or edit locked templates. Custom templates and unlocked templates do not receive any updates during an orcharhino upgrade.

Use the clone function to customize templates. Note, that cloned or manually created templates are not updated during an orcharhino upgrade.

In case you know what you are doing, and template editing is desirable, the management UI provides extensive tools to do so, including inbuilt documentation on template syntax at https://orcharhino.example.com/templates_doc.
