orcharhino Client Upgrade Guide
This guide describes how to add and upgrade orcharhino clients.
orcharhino and its clients is a large software suite undergoing active development. It is recommended to upgrade orcharhino clients when ATIX releases new versions to take advantage of its new features and bug fixes. Refer to the orcharhino Release Notes for more information.
Ensure you carefully read all of the instructions, warnings, and recommendations presented in this guide and the appropriate version specific orcharhino Upgrade Notes in the ATIX Service Portal. ATIX does not offer support for recovery from a failed upgrade if you did not follow our upgrade guide.
The following steps guide you through adding orcharhino clients manually. orcharhino clients are required to attach hosts to orcharhino.
Create a product
The product will typically house all orcharhino clients for a single operating system, e.g.
Create new repositories
Sync newly created product
Syncing a product fetches the orcharhino client from the upstream URL to your orcharhino instance.
Create new content view
Create activation key
Optional: Create new host group
Creating a new host group simplifies the process of creating hosts.
This allows you to attach and deploy hosts running specific operating systems to/from orcharhino.
Refer to the ATIX Service Portal for instructions on how to upgrade SLES clients to SLES clients v2.
Every orcharhino release also contains newly built orcharhino clients. There are two steps required to make use of these:
Publish content view
Publish a new version of the content view containing the orcharhino client repositories.
Now, hosts subscribed to an activation key containing the client repositories or corresponding content views will automatically be able to receive the newly synchronized orcharhino clients. For more information, see managing content views and managing activation keys in the Content Management guide.
